______________________________________ [Jan 17,2009 3:50am - the_reverend ""] xp rules. that's why it's still around after 7 years. vista isn't too good. 7 seems to rule. |

I don't hate XP, I just think it could have been much better. I care more about how quick and easy 7 is. An OS shouldn't eat large amounts of memory to run, and it should also be easy on the eyes and user friendly. I also want my old DOS programs to run in 7 WITH NO PROBLEMS, and want 7 to be safe. |

____________________________________ [Jan 17,2009 2:08pm - ArilliusBM ""] I never really had any problems with driver support, though I know a lot of people did. ______________________________________ [Jan 17,2009 4:19pm - the_reverend ""] you can run remote desktop through 2 firewalls. so when I'm at work, I could remote through my works firewall and then through my home firewall to my desktop at home. it works really well. |

______________________________________ [Jan 19,2009 1:02pm - the_reverend ""] there was/is a mp3 bug that clips off the end of songs. They fixed it and a patch has the fix, but I think the last build still has the problem if you edit mp3s before updating. also, I have 7GB RAM in the machine that is running beta 7. it seems that it's glommed off 1GB of RAM for the OS. |
_______________________________________ [Feb 26,2009 11:33am - the_reverend ""] So far, I love this os. _________________________________________ [Feb 26,2009 2:27pm - Conservationist ""] Probably depends on the laptop, and the configuration. I've got it running on a friend's Sony and it does great, in part because the HD is fast and there's enough RAM. Most laptops... dunno if I'd install it. Still, after hearing the crowd bloviate about how terrible it was, it was kind of neat to find out that it's actually kind of cool. |

_________________________________ [Feb 26,2009 4:28pm - RustyPS ""] I really like the laptop, and I haven't had a major issue with Vista yet. In fact, the only thing that bugs me about it so far is the defrag doesn't show you what it's doing like XP did, but that's nothing major. Admittedly, it's slightly less stable than XP, but having WinME for a while back in 01-03, this is nothing compared to that instability. You breathed on that laptop, and something would crash...lol |
