Now, I guess you could say that I don't "get" hardcore. But I'm going to argue that in this case there isn't much to get. Almost every song sounded exactly the fucking same, with the lead singer shrieking like a girl most of the time. (And, uh, not in a good way.) Each song was introduced as a being a political statement, but you couldn't hear a single word (though most of the time it sounded vaguely like "die, motherfucker"), so the idea that the songs are "about" anything is ludicrous. Frankly the whole violent stance (the raised fists, spitting on the crowd, at one point feigning as though he wanted to hit someone with the mic stand) struck me as Fascist. So what if you claim to be on the "progressive" side - acting like a Nazi is not how you effect social change. Use your brain, not your fist. Besides, just from looking at him I'm convinced that the dude eats hamburgers. |
