ATTN mac nerds

SO i recently acquired a mac after years of PC loyalty. its an older g4 mini not too sure about much more than that. anyhow the things pretty slow and buggy, if it were a PC i would reformat the HD , and all that shit, how does one do that sort of thing for a mac? should i just delete my system 32?
i am, how do you say, not smart with teh comput0rz.

Do this:

Applications --> Utilities --> Disk Utility ---> select the hard drive --> repair permissions / repair disk

this is a mac so it's called a th-y-th-tem32 folder.
